Award season is ramping up, as accolades trickle in. Huami’s wearable brand Amazfit and partner Xiaomi have have been honored with five new awards for 2017.
2017 RED DOT AWARD: PRODUCT DESIGN
Last year, Ines Bihan, Xiaoxi Shi and Pengtao Yu achieved recognition with their innovative design for the Amazfit Moonbeam and Equator. Created specifically for fashion-conscious consumers, their work was awarded the 2016 iF Design Award and 2016 Red Dot Award.
THE AMAZFIT ARC
This year, Bihan brought home another Red Dot Award for her work with the Amazfit Arc. While the Moonbeam and Equator had the distinct look of jewellry, she focused her design of the Arc on comfort, adaptability, and style. She applied a curve to the core unit, bending it around the wrist for an optimal fit.
THE AMAZFIT PACE AND THE MI BAND 2
Pengtao Yu and Xiaoxi Shi have also won the 2017 Red Dot Award for their work on the Amazfit Pace Running Watch. They adapted the Pace for outdoor use: the display is crystal clear under the brightest sunlight, the ceramic bezel is scratch-resistant, and the silicone band secures the watch through vigorous activity.
The Amazfit Pace, Amazfit Arc, and Mi Band 2 will be showcased for a year in the largest museum for contemporary design, Red Dot Design Museum. In 2017, Red Dot received product design submissions from 54 countries, making it the most competitive year to date.
2017 IF DESIGN AWARD
Each year in Hanover, Germany’s oldest independent design organization holds the iF Design Awards. Since it was launched over 60 years ago, the iF Design Award has been considered the arbiter of quality for exceptional design. The iF label is renowned for outstanding design services, and the award itself is one of the top prizes in the world.
THE MI BAND 2
This year, Pengtao Yu’s design work for the Mi Band 2 won over an international jury of 58 industry experts. Around 5,500 entries were submitted from 59 countries.
2017 MUSE CREATIVE AWARD
The Muse Creative Awards is an international competition for creative-professionals who inspire through traditional or digital media.
THE AMAZFIT APP
The Amazfit App for iOS earned Platinum recognition after facing a panel of 47 judges from leading companies in the creative industry, including the Guinness World Records. Over 1,500 entries were submitted from 25 countries across the globe.
